# Length Sweep

Sweeps the EME cell lengths (EMELengthSweep). The EME propagation step is repeated after scaling every cell length by each entry in the list, and the modes are computed once and reused across factors. This makes length sweeps much cheaper in EME than in FDTD, where a new simulation would be needed for each length — for example, to find the optimal length of a taper or of a coupling region.

# Length Factors

scale_factors: List of scale factors applied to all EME cell lengths. For each factor, the scattering matrix of the correspondingly stretched (or compressed) device is computed.

# Enter range

Create an evenly spaced list of scale factors between a minimum and a maximum value.

Min: Minimum scale factor.

  • Default: 0.5

Max: Maximum scale factor.

  • Default: 1.5

Number of points: Number of scale factors.

  • Constraint: greater than or equal to 2
  • Default: 3

# Custom

Create a custom list of scale factors. Click Add factor to append a new entry.

  • Constraint: at least one entry
  • Default: [0.5, 1.0, 1.5]
