# Wavelengths

EME is a frequency-domain method: the simulation is solved at each of the wavelength/frequency points defined in this section (freqs). The field is propagated independently at each provided frequency, but the modes are only computed at a few sampling points and interpolated across the frequency range. This behavior can be adjusted in the Frequency Interpolation settings of the mode specification.

Options:

  • Wavelength (λ): Specify simulation wavelengths in units of m, μm (default), or nm.
  • Frequency (ƒ): Specify simulation frequencies in units of Hz or THz (default).

Default: Wavelength (λ)

# Enter wavelength/frequency range

Create an evenly spaced list of wavelength/frequency points between a minimum and a maximum value.

min: Minimum wavelength/frequency value.

  • Default: 1.5 μm

max: Maximum wavelength/frequency value.

  • Default: 1.6 μm

number of points: Number of wavelength/frequency points.

  • Default: 5

# Custom wavelength/frequency list

Create a custom list of wavelength/frequency points. Click the Edit list button to include, edit, or exclude wavelength/frequency values from the list.

NOTE

EME monitors record at the simulation frequencies defined here. Each monitor can select a subset of these values but cannot add new ones. See Monitors.
