# Explicit Grid

EME grid with explicitly defined internal boundaries. Each cell has its own mode specification and ends at a user-specified boundary along the propagation axis. Use this option to place cell boundaries exactly at junctions, transitions, or other locations where the cross-section changes abruptly.

Click Add cell to append a new cell to the grid. The first cell starts at the simulation boundary, and the last cell extends to the simulation edge (it has no Ends at field).

# Ends At

boundaries: Coordinate at which each cell ends along the propagation axis. There is one boundary fewer than the number of cells.

Type: floating-point number

  • Unit: m, μm (default), or nm
  • Constraint: boundaries must be strictly increasing and lie within the simulation domain
  • Required field

# Mode Specification

mode_specs: Mode specification for each cell in the explicit EME grid. Expand a cell row to edit its mode specification. The cell header summarizes the number of modes of each cell.
